Ableton Live Plugin Folder Mac

Ableton Live Plugin Folder Mac Catalina

I have looked at Library/Audio/VST and the folder is empty. But on Ableton Live, under the VST preferences, the.vst files all show but they are 'greyed' out. It seems that the files are all hidden. How do I delete these plugins? Or how do I make these file 'unhidden' so I can thrash them to the bin? Any help would be great. Try on Ableton Live's Options, Preferences, File Folder side-tab and in the Plug-in Sources section, click the 'Rescan' button and wait a little bit. If the Analog Lab name shows up in the left-side Plug-In Devices browser (you have to click the little Plug icon on the left tab list), then you're set. If not, read on.

I cannot get my VST plugins to work on abelton live, and have been getting quite frustrated. Will someone help give me some sort of direction to go in.
My friend uses abelton a lot on mac, and has told me that I have to download the torrent of whatever plugin I want, un-zip it to my specified plugin folder, and how to search for it using abelton. Yet I still cannot get any to work.
For example, I downloaded the 'FM8' plugin, and it seems to be the synth program itself, and not one that I can use through Abelton.
